Find care / Check a clinician's name

How do you check a Colorado clinician?

Get the full name used on the credential and the person's professional role. Then open Colorado's public search.

Use the state record

Colorado's free search showed state permission for medical, nursing and pharmacy work (September 26, 2026).

  • Get the person's full name rather than only a service name.
  • Choose the relevant profession in the state search.
  • Match the record to the person you are considering.
  • Check whether the person's state permission is current. Read any posted disciplinary record: this shows formal charges or steps the board took over professional conduct.

If names do not match, ask the clinician to explain the difference. Save the record you checked.

Choose the right professional board

Colorado's Medical Board licensed physicians and physician assistants, as checked on September 26, 2026.

Nurses and nurse practitioners came under the State Board of Nursing, as checked on September 26, 2026.

Eligible out-of-state clinicians had a separate telehealth-only registration option, as of September 26, 2026.

Ask which credential permits the particular care being offered.

Understand the limit of a clean record

A clean public record shows no published board discipline, such as a penalty over professional conduct. That does not measure the quality of the person's care.

Use the record alongside answers about assessment, the medicine and ongoing care. Check the pharmacy separately when you have its name.
